E-Waste Recycling Event

Event Info
Residents and businesses are invited to recycle most electronics and appliances containing a cord or battery, including computers, laptops, cell phones, tablets, printers, networking equipment, stereos, speakers, power tools, lawn and garden equipment, household appliances, microwaves, monitors, televisions, and many other electronic devices. The event is open to the public, and participants do not need to be Independence residents to attend.
Most items are accepted free of charge. Recycling fees apply to certain materials, including:
• LED/LCD/Plasma Televisions – $20 each
• CRT Televisions (26 inches or less) – $30 each
Cash, checks, and major credit cards are accepted.
Electronic devices often contain recyclable materials that can be recovered through responsible recycling. Data-bearing devices will be processed through Tech Remove's secure recycling procedures to help protect personal information while ensuring environmentally responsible recycling practices.
The following items cannot be accepted:
• Smoke detectors
• VHS tapes, cassette tapes, and floppy disks
• CDs and DVDs
• Ink and toner cartridges
• Coaxial and fiber optic cable
• Alkaline batteries
• Lithium primary batteries
• Dry-cell NiCd batteries
• Button-cell batteries
• Broken bulbs or lamps
